Our study on how wastewater pollutants adsorb on amorphous TiO2 is featured on the front cover of Materials Advances (Volume 7, Issue 4).
Using molecular dynamics simulations, the work shows how pollutants, water and ions interact with the TiO2 surface, and that the protonation state of a pollutant strongly influences how it binds. This adsorption is the first step towards photocatalytic degradation and could help to design more efficient wastewater treatment.
Congratulations to first author Maria von Einem, to Susan Köppen-Hannemann and to all co-authors!
